WHO ARE WE?

Oasis as a group of business entities has been operating since 2013. The company has 3 business entities (divisions) operating as subsidiaries, namely Oasis Training Centre, Oasis Private Practice & Home Care Services and Oasis Heights.

Oasis Group of Companies as we so often refer to all its business entities are the brainchild of both husband and wife, Leslie and Tessia August. The 2 partners are registered nurses by profession and have been involved in the health industry for over 28 years now. Leslie has been in health and hospital management within the public health sector, whereas Tessia has been involved in the private health sector, with the past few years very involved in training and development of nurses and more specifically care givers. The August couple thus come with many years of experience in nursing management, health and hospital management and most recent experience in geriatric (older people) care.

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?

Our business entities are well known within the Helderberg basin. We have partnered with the Mediclinic vergelegen Hospital, Busamed Paardevlei Private Hospital, Spescare Sub-acute Hospital, Helderberg Hospice and Cancercare in Somerset West. These health institutions are our primary referral sources. Apart from those health facilities, GP’s and medical specialists also refer their patients directly to Oasis.

Oasis stands for safe, dignified and compassionate care to older people. The 3 things that we strife to eliminate from the lives of older persons in our care, are:

  • Loneliness
  • Boredom
  • The feeling of uselessness

This we do with the provision of companions, the promotion of family interaction and engagement,  through creative and appropriate for age activities and hobbies. In doing so we place high emphasis on self-worth and dignity in our daily interactions with the people in our care.

Oasis knows the importance of a safe, familiar and friendly environment and in that has ensured that its care facility exhibits a homely, warm atmosphere. We have totally moved away from the typical hospital, clinical setting to a homely, almost guest house setting because we believe that there is no better place like home, hence the motto: “At home, away from home” .

Oasis Private Practice & Home Care Services is a placement agency for qualified care givers. The philosophy of care at home is becoming more and more the way to go. The loved ones (family/children), of older people, have over the years develop the need to take care of their parents. This is due to perceptions that care facilities are very expensive, that care provided in facilities are not that good and that abuse of the elderly is almost an everyday thing. Oasis Private Practice & Home Care Services seeks to provide the alternative to institutionalized or facility care.  Well trained care givers are assigned to care for an older people to provide optimal care within the confines of the existing environment. At times the environment has to be changed to facilitate and enhance the care process. Care is supervised and monitored and carers are supported to ensure quality and high standards of care provision.
